Learn how to protect your children's privacy while playing Fortnite

When cyberbullying happens, it feels like you are being attacked everywhere, even in your own home, and there seems to be no way out. And the effects can last a long time and affect the person in many ways, especially if the person exposed to it was a young child, all they were doing was having fun playing the beloved game of Fortnite.

Cyberbullying is known to have a clear effect on both adults and adults. However, the greatest danger of bullying on the Internet and during collective electronic games still poses a great threat to children and their mental health, as children are exposed to various forms of cyberbullying and abuse through social networking sites and Internet games, without having the necessary knowledge and skills to defend themselves and face cyberbullying.

One of the new solutions initiated by the developer of the battle royale game Fortnite, Epic, and through its website, is the introduction of Limited Accounts, which are a new type of Epic account that offers a safe and comprehensive personalized experience for younger players, while maintaining access to their favorite playstyle in Fortnite.

HOW FORTNITE LIMITED ACCOUNTS WORK

Players around the world will receive a one-time age restriction prompt when logging into Fortnite. If you are a younger player, your Epic account will be a restricted account and you will be required to provide a parent or guardian’s email address to begin the parental consent process.

With a Limited Account, you can play Fortnite with full access to previously purchased or acquired game content, but parental controls are required to access certain features. Once a parent sets parental controls, they will enjoy an experience that matches their chosen settings and their account will no longer be a Limited account.

Additionally, as we announced in September, if you’re under 18 and haven’t already told us your age, you’ll see some settings reset to their highest privacy settings. Your default chat options will be set to ‘Nobody,’ your profile details will be hidden by default, your default group settings will be set to ‘Invite Only,’ and personalized recommendations will be turned off. If you’re under 16, you’ll also have adult language filtering by default.

If your default settings change, you'll be notified and given the option to change your account settings if they're not restricted by parental controls or a limited account.
