We were surprised by the appearance of the first teaser for Resident Evil: Death Island, which was published on IGN's YouTube channel.

The film will be CGI, as we will witness the appearance of many characters from the series, mainly Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and others.

There is no release date for the new film yet, except that it is coming sometime this year 2023, while some details about the story have been revealed.

You can watch the video below, which shows many familiar characters as well as a large number of zombies, including monster forms and new mutant creatures.

The film's story was not left ambiguous, as some important details were revealed, officially described as follows:

Agent Leon Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers when a mysterious woman foils his pursuit. Agent Chris Redfield investigates a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be determined. The only thing the victims have in common is that they had recently visited Alcatraz Island. Following this lead, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them.

Although the description didn't mention it, Jill Valentine will be one of the well-known characters from the series who will be present in Resident Evil: Death Island. But it seems that its residents want to leave us with some surprises when it is released later this year.

For those who remember Resident Evil: Vendetta, also an animated film released in 2017, this could be its sequel. Especially since it starred characters like Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers, and while it didn't necessarily receive stellar reviews, it was still appreciated by fans of the series in general.
