Remedy Entertainment's next big title is Alan Wake 2, but it's not just a new chapter in the character's journey. It's a highly anticipated title, even though the developer has worked on other games in the past. In a new interview with Games Radar, creative director Sam Lake feels he “didn’t let go of Alan Wake” after the first game’s release in 2010.
I feel like I never left Alan Wake behind. There was always a clear intention to return to it; there were always more stories to tell and characters too precious to forget. The story continued to grow and evolve over the years, and we created a new concept between each project.
According to the creative director, the dream of Alan Wake 2 is even more ambitious. A game project like this is a very complex undertaking, as it is the developer's biggest project to date. And there are many different things that need to be worked on.
Alan Wake 2 is set to release this year for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC via the Epic Games Store. The title is being funded by Epic Games and the game is more of a horror game compared to the first game. In terms of scope and scale, the developer has described the story as massive, with more pages written for the setting than any other game in the past.
While no further gameplay details were revealed, CEO Tiro Virtalla said that it’s a great remake of the previous version with plenty of new features and he’s confident that the team will “release an excellent game.” Stay tuned for more details in the coming months, and be sure to let us know your predictions for Season 2 in the comments section.
