Warplane games are one of the few categories that game developers are interested in developing. And the recent Ace Combat 7 from Japanese publisher Bandai Namco is a case in point.

The series has gained popularity since its first installments were released in the last decade. Specifically in 1995 on the PlayStation 1, and the last part was released two years ago, titled Ace Combat 7 Skies Unknown, the best-selling part of this entire famous series.

In the latest sales statistics for the latest installment of the game, the developer announced via the game's Twitter account that its sales have already exceeded 4 million copies sold worldwide. An incredible number for an aircraft game that is not as popular as today's shooters.

The game recently had a new DLC called Top Gun: Maverick available for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. It will have a decent collection of fighters like DarkStar, F/A-18E Super Hornet, F-14A Tomcat, Maverick Skin, Iceman Skin, 5th Gen Fighter and more.

Previously, publisher and developer Bandai Namco announced a new game that is currently in development, according to series producer Kazutoki Kono, on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the first installment in the series. The new game will be a co-production between Bandai Namco and ILCA, which worked on the scenes and environments for the sequel.
