World War III brings team-based tactical combat to the DMZ and the Gobi Desert

4 Winds Entertainment (T4W) has announced that tactical shooter World War 3 will exit open beta, launching its first seasonal update on December 8 in the Middle East and North Africa. Operation Redline will see the conflict expand to a new area, bringing new maps in the Korean Demilitarized Zone and China’s Gobi Desert, and adding new military equipment from the South Korean and Chinese armies.

World War 3 is an online tactical first-person shooter developed by the Polish studio behind The Farm 51, also known for Chernobylite and Get Even. Players take part in thrilling group skirmishes, fight on the battlefield, drive tanks and vehicles, use drones to scout the battlefield, and call in tactical support to inflict maximum damage.

Up to 40 players can battle across two main game modes: Tactical Operations and Team Deathmatch, with matches played across a variety of incredibly realistic maps. Assemble your squad and fight on the streets of Warsaw, Berlin, Moscow, Polyarny, Smolensk and soon the Demilitarized Zone and the Gobi Desert.

Operation Redline is the first Global Operation. These major seasonal game updates revolve around new conflict zones, countries or locations with the intention of expanding our game world while intensifying the conflicts within it. Additional game content is released with each Global Operation, including new maps, features, game modes and improvements to the overall gameplay experience, as well as weapons, tactical support options and vehicles to help turn the tide of war in your favor.

Redline is the first Global Operation to launch in Year 1 of WWIII, with 3 more Operations to follow in 2023. For more information, check out the content roadmap on the official website.

Operation Redline focuses on China and the Korean Peninsula. Two new battlefields will be available in these two conflict zones as tensions rise in World War III. The Joby map is dedicated to frantic team-based deathmatches, while the DMZ map is larger to accommodate tactical operations.

  • Gobi (Team Deathmatch): The Gobi Desert spans lands in China and Mongolia and is the sixth largest desert in the world. Join a raging storm and battle enemies in the dusty halls of an ancient temple.
  • Demilitarized Zone (Tactical Operations): The Korean Demilitarized Zone is the border barrier separating North and South Korea. This zone is surrounded by oceans and stretches for 250 km, and is heavily guarded by militaries on both sides, with barbed wire, landmines, heavy weapons and other dangerous deterrents. Take advantage of the uneven terrain as you fight to secure objectives in this no man's land.

But it’s not just new maps, players can unlock entirely new layouts to try out new tactics with more weapons, vehicles and tactical support options:

  • Hunting schemes: Customize your fighter with equipment from the Republic of Korea's 707th Special Mission Group and the PLA Ground Force.
  • Weapons: Equip your fighter with the standard version of the South Korean K2C1 assault rifle and the Chinese QBZ-95 multi-action rifle.
  • Tactical Support Vehicles and Options: Wield heavy weapons with China's ZTZ-99 (Light Main Battle Tank), strike hard with South Korea's K21 (Light Infantry Fighting Vehicle), and scout enemies from the sky with an IMUGI drone (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle).

In addition to new content, the Farm 51 development team has been working on improvements and new features for World War 3. With the launch of the new season, stay tuned for updates that will bring improvements to the quality of play and experience. ..which include more realistic weapon collisions, movement, protection within the base, as well as changes to the player's health bar to better communicate their operational status and adding the ability to reload weapons while crouched, along with changes to the appearance of vehicles.

World War 3 is currently available in open beta on Steam, with Operation Redline launching on December 8. The base game is free to play, but with the start of Operation Redline, players can also purchase the Battle Pass, which includes exclusive rewards by completing challenges.

Players can unlock over 50 tiers of free and premium rewards, which include new and exclusive customization options for fighters, weapons, tactical support options, and more. The Battle Pass will launch alongside Operation Redline on December 8.
