It seems Sony is planning to bring a lot of new features to the PlayStation digital store, as it has appointed a former Apple employee to implement its plans. What features might we see in the store after appointing an expert in the field?

Ben King, who previously worked at Apple as Chief Services Officer, has been chosen by Sony to be its new Senior Vice President of Consumer Direct. One of King's responsibilities is to oversee the digital offerings available on the PlayStation Store.

Hiring someone with a wealth of experience from a prestigious company like Apple could mean a lot to gamers and Sony. King said the following after his appointment:

PlayStation Store has become one of the most visited digital media stores on the planet. This gives us a unique opportunity to think creatively about our relationships with our users and help them get the most out of the PlayStation ecosystem.

We have the opportunity to simultaneously create a financial opportunity for our game studio partners. We have the ability to better serve our community by offering more personalized experiences and helping each customer discover the perfect entertainment for them, through the right channel, at the right time.

King will now report to Veronica Rogers, Senior Vice President, Global Head of Sales and Chief Operating Officer. King previously served as Chief Subscription Officer at DAZN Corporation before leaving in mid-2022. Prior to that, he worked at Apple, where he held various roles across iTunes, the App Store, and Apple Music, including international marketing, business development, and general management.

In other news, Sony revealed that PS5 sales have reached 30 million units sold worldwide. This represents an average of 10 million devices sold during each of the company's fiscal years over the past three years.
