Konami has updated its sales figures on its official website to reveal that the Metal Gear series has sold around 59.5 million copies since the first Metal Gear game was released in 1987. This is a slight increase from a similar previous reveal that revealed 59.3 million copies sold.
Interestingly, the higher sales of the Metal Gear series likely have something to do with which titles in the series are currently available for digital purchase.
While these games can be played on platforms and PC, there's still a way to play older games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid 3, and many other older games in the series. In addition to simulations, you can play them through the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which is playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility.
In previous news reports last month, a reputable website claimed that the "Metal Gear" remake would be revealed in the first half of this year. The website mentioned that the expected window for this major announcement could be between February and March of this year. But Things become even clearer when Raiden's character from the original game responded to a player's question via Twitter. He asked the gaming community to stay tuned for an exciting announcement in the coming weeks.
