The famous Forbes magazine published a report that generated a lot of controversy about the PlayStation and Xbox platforms, describing the latter as unable to compete despite the passage of about the middle of the current generation, while PlayStation continues to issue many great titles on a regular basis.
The report cited many of the big titles that PlayStation continues to release, such as God of War Ragnarok, which recently received high ratings. We rarely see other games reach this level. The report added that PlayStation has many big titles released in the last and current generation, such as The Last of Us Part 1 and 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Forbidden West, Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, and Bloodborne.
On the other hand, according to a report by Forbes magazine, Xbox, which focuses on its Game Pass service, has failed to match PlayStation and advance its competition. Adding that they have entered a new generation without having any competing exclusive titles like Sony did. As the best Xbox exclusive title in the current and past generations is the car game Forza, which is aimed at a specific category of gamers who only love car and racing games.
As the report states, this has led Microsoft to buy up insane studios and companies in order to get big titles that can compete with PlayStation. More importantly, the Xbox boss himself admits that there is still a huge shortage of exclusive titles on Xbox platforms, and they know it well.
Forbes reported:
Once again, arguably Microsoft's "best" exclusive of this generation so far is yet another Forza game, and what was supposed to be a great exclusive, Halo Infinite, ended up poorly in terms of performance and sales, raising questions about the overall future of the series, whose developers are struggling to fix what has plagued it thus far.
We're two years into this console generation and where are we? Sony just unveiled another Game of the Generation contender, and has revamped and released most of its previous big titles from the last generation. But most of the Xbox exclusives have come and gone without much fanfare, if we're to ignore the hype that Halo Infinite created.
The report also touched on upcoming Xbox titles, most notably the Starfield game, which Xbox has high hopes for, which is reflected in the form of great pressure on the developer to release a product that is actually worth the wait, noting that the slow launch of the game has become annoying. On the other hand, Sony is preparing to release other big titles like Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine, while there are other big titles that Naughty Dog Studio and Sony Santa Monica are working on, and they will probably be no less powerful than other PlayStation titles.
On the other hand, it seems that this generation of Xbox will go through the other half of the generation without Microsoft releasing big titles like PlayStation does throughout the year.
The author of the report concluded that he did not compose this from his imagination, but based it on the statements of Phil Spencer via IGN, in which he said he understood why players were frustrated with the lack of big Xbox games, but indicated that 2023 will be a big year with Starfield, Redfall and Forza Motorsport 8.
We note that this report has been copied from the report published by the Forbes platform, which has generated a lot of controversy on social media platforms and the Internet recently.
