With support for Cyberpunk 2077 finally ending, CD Projekt RED will move on to future projects, and while it looks like The Witcher 4 will take priority when it enters full production this year, work on the next Cyberpunk game is also continuing.
Back in November, it was revealed that the game was in the process of finding a concept for it, and while it remained in the early stages, things would continue to develop, and in a new Reuters interview with “Adam BadowskiCD Projekt CEO said the sequel, codenamed Orion (for now), will be worked on by around 80 people by the end of this year.
Interestingly, CEO Michal Nowakowski also said that CDPR Studios was studying multiplayer elements for the next installment, but did not go into further detail on the matter, but these statements are enough to create quite a bit of excitement among fans.
It's worth noting that developer CD Projekt began work on a standalone Cyberpunk collective experience back in 2019, but reports emerged in 2021 that the project had been cancelled, with the studio later confirming that it had chosen to focus its efforts on fixing and improving the main game after the difficulties it faced.
It was previously confirmed that Cyberpunk 2 will be directed by “Gaby Amatangelo", who led the direction of Cyberpunk 2077, and also directed the Phantom Liberty expansion. The game will be developed by CD Projekt RED's newly formed American Studios subsidiary, which will also include several key members of the first game's development team.
