Xbox Series X devices will receive a new update later this year that will make them the first home devices to be able to save energy and power. The idea is to force the devices into power-saving mode in an attempt to reduce carbon emissions.

Xbox account activated Twitter Announcing the alpha version of this long-awaited update, which will be available to select users before being made available to the general public. After installing the update, Xbox Series X devices will be forced into power saving mode to reduce power consumption. With this feature, Microsoft’s current device will become the first green home device ever.

The default option for devices when finished using them will be the “Power Off” option. While before the update, the option to sleep and automatically return to sleep (Instant On) was enabled. Of course, the player will not be forced to the option to reduce the power of their device, but will be able to return to the old option.

It is reported that with this new update, the power consumption will decrease from 15 watts that the device previously consumed in this mode to 0.5 watts.

This update will also add an Active Hours option, where users can specify a time period during which the device will be up and running quickly and ready to work remotely if needed. Outside of these hours, the device will be completely off with 0.5 watts of power consumption.

Microsoft now has the right to be proud of its devices, which have become eco-friendly devices that contribute to reducing carbon emissions. What do you think of the company's interest in making its devices eco-friendly?
