After several reports emerged indicating the absence of Nintendo and Microsoft from the upcoming E3 2023 showcase, here we are getting the official confirmation from the first company about the absence from the upcoming showcase. The company has its logical and compelling reasons that will lead to its absence.
Nintendo confirmed to IGN that it will not be attending E3 2023, as the show schedule and release dates do not suit the company and conflict with its summer schedule. With this confirmation, we expect Microsoft to weigh in on its decision regarding whether to attend the show, and if it is negative, we will not see the three industry giants there.
Nintendo released an official statement about the expo, saying the following, with explanations for the no-show:
“We approach our participation in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always thinking of different ways to engage with our fans, but this year’s E3 didn’t fit into our plans, so we have made the decision not to participate. Despite this, we continue to strongly support the ESA and E3.”
So ultimately, the reason the company pulled out of the show isn't because of the lack of headlines the company was supposed to make. We don't know yet how much of an impact this might have on the show organizers after hearing about all these big company absences, but we'll have to wait and see.
We remind you that this year's version of E3 will be released in mid-June, as a new agreement has been signed for the organization of this event.
