The wave of layoffs that hit the video game industry late last year and early this year continues to hit more studios, as the developer of Dead By Daylight has announced the layoff of 95 employees from its total developer base.
Earlier this year, approximately 10,000 developers were impacted and lost their jobs due to studios and companies closing or selling, and layoffs are continuing and have begun to include teams we never imagined would be impacted by the crisis. layoffs.
Quoting VGC, the team at Behaviour Interactive, developer of Dead By Daylight, has announced that it will be laying off approximately 7% of its total staff, equivalent to 95 employees, the majority of whom work at the studio's branch based in Canada, specifically in the state of Montreal.
The Behavior team said it has renewed its focus on its historical strengths in horror games, its production expertise and its thirty-year history of providing exceptional service to its partners. The team’s total headcount was more than 1,300 before the layoff announcement. He added:
“These strengths have inspired clear ambitions for the team’s future, including leading in horror, leading in service, and exploring the possibilities of location-based entertainment. To achieve this articulated vision, the Behavior team will implement multiple strategic changes across its corporate structure, enhancing product differentiation, production, business development, and marketing capabilities.”
It is worth noting that the Behavior team had already laid off around 45 developer employees in the Montreal office last January, and now the team has completed the layoff process as part of the financial and organizational restructuring plan.
