A new report has revealed that EA recently canceled a previously unannounced single-player game set in the Titanfall universe.
According to a Bloomberg report, the game, codenamed Titanfall Legends, was in development at Respawn Studio. The report stated that a team of around 50 developers was working on the game. However, following the project's cancellation, many of them are expected to find new jobs at EA, while several are expected to be laid off in the coming period.
The report indicates that Titanfall Legends has been in development for a long time, under the leadership of Muhammad Alawi, a former Respawn developer who was heavily involved in the story and level design of Titanfall, Titanfall 2, and Apex Legends. Prior to that, he designed popular Call of Duty missions like Crew Expendable in Modern Warfare and No Russian in Modern Warfare 2.
Alawi left Respawn Studios in January 2022. His departure from the development team may have had a major negative impact on the decision to cancel it entirely.
This move by EA coincides with the company's announcement that it will completely abandon support for Apex Legends Mobile, whose servers will be shut down soon, and that it will cancel Battlefield Mobile before its launch. This surprise was also followed by the company's announcement that it will also close its mobile game studio.
During EA's third-quarter earnings call on Wednesday, the CEO said Andre Wilson The company has learned a lot from its experience with the game and plans to reimagine the connected experience of Apex Legends Mobile in the future. Meanwhile, we don't know what will happen to its other games, which are being canceled one after the other.
