Previously, Sony-owned studio Bungie filed a lawsuit against a Destiny player named corner. The latter harassed one of the team's developers and threatened his family. And now the verdict is for the studio to win and send a message that chasing hooligans has never been easier.

Bungie has won nearly $500,000 in damages for allegedly harassing and terrorizing a Destiny 2 community manager and his family. The ruling was handed down in absentia by the defendant, “Jesse James Comer,” who failed to appear to defend himself in Washington State Supreme Court, and after conducting investigations and judicial deliberations, the player was ordered corner pay the $ studio 489,435.52 in damages, legal costs and fees, with post-judgment interest of 12% for each year in which the amount remains unpaid.

As reported by Polygon, the actions of corner The court gave several reasons for awarding damages to the team for the treatment of its workers. It also inadvertently had broader legal consequences by prompting the court to invoke a common law article known as the “tort” clause.

The new precedent would allow employers to recover the costs incurred in investigating the identity of the anonymous harasser and dismissing their claims, regardless of whether there are other grounds for awarding damages. In Bungie’s case, those costs amounted to more than £380,000.

The Bungie team has a history of fighting and punishing cheaters and rule breakers, so do you think this is the most appropriate way to fight these people?
