CDPR Studio: The Witcher Remake Will Be Released After Next Installment

There's plenty for fans of the popular series, as the next Witcher title, codenamed Polaris, is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and two more installments will be released six years after the next game's release alongside The Witcher Remake.

Returning to The Witcher Remake, the project formerly known by its codename Project Canis Majoris, was also developed in Unreal Engine 5 by Fool's Theory, a third-party studio that includes many of the series' previous developers. Unlike the original release, the title will feature an open world.

It may take some time before it sees the light of day. In CD Projekt Group's Q3 2022 report, President and CEO Adam Kiesinski confirmed that The Witcher Remake will be released after The Witcher 4.

As for the post-Polaris remake, it's a reflection of how we think about this project. I think The Witcher Remake is largely based on Polaris technologies, so it will be developed in part in parallel with Polaris. But once Polaris launches, everything we did for the Polaris project will already exist and will be partially reused in the new version.

If the new version truly adapts to the technologies used in Polaris, the gap between releases may not be so long. Time will tell, so stay tuned for more details.

Unfortunately, there are no photos or videos of this new version yet, but we encourage players to stay tuned, as the team will do everything in its power to showcase a strong product. Do you really think we'll see a tangible change in gameplay beyond the graphics?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition launches on December 14, bringing the popular RPG to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 with next-gen features and enhanced visuals.
