A large percentage of PS5 owners confirmed that they chose the device due to the easy availability of Call of Duty on the device. While several other reasons ranked lower in the referendum, such as the presence of exclusive titles issued by the first party.
The easy availability of the game on the device means, firstly: making it possible to play on the platform and, secondly, that all friends usually have the game on the same device. This will make meeting up with them to enjoy the game as a group easier and more effective, although the game supports cross-platform play.
The survey showed that 89% of those who chose the PS5 did so because of the ease of games available on it. While among these, 73% chose the device because of the game Call of Duty, and a small percentage of them, worth 69%, chose the platform because of the exclusive first-party titles, such as:
- God of War (41%)
- The Last of Us (39%)
- Marvel's Spider-Man (37%)
- Ghost of Tsushima (25.5%)
The options also included some other popular titles like Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, Fortnite, and Star Wars, but Call of Duty was by far the most popular title.
These statistics could be a powerful weapon for Sony to use against Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Meanwhile, the confrontation between the two parties intensifies, as Microsoft and Activision accuse Sony of trying to prevent the deal despite the good offers that were presented to it to guarantee the launch of the Call of Duty game on PlayStation platforms for at least 10 years.
There is now a proposal from the CMA to exclude the Call of Duty game from the agreement, but neither Microsoft nor Activision have expressed any response on whether this proposal is approved or rejected.
If you had taken this poll and were a Call of Duty fan, would you have actually chosen the PS5?
