Despite this, the first game in the series still manages to impress players with its terrifying visuals, as much of the horror comes from the need to use night vision.
With its brilliant use of darkness to truly elicit horror, Outlast never failed to scare players, whereas many psychological horror games might employ subtlety or allow the player's imagination to do its work. Red Barrels came out with its first release and truly changed that.

Recently, the developer posted a tweet with highlighted screenshots of The last trials, giving a brief overview of the tension that awaits players, while the new game places more emphasis on survival, but in co-op. There is a chance to do it on your own, as we saw in the previous two games.
The closed beta will start from The last trials It's October 28 and runs through November 1. That'll give some fans a chance to get a taste of what this Cold War-era version of the Murkoff Corporation has in store. Given its cooperative orientation, some will likely compare it to games like Dead by Daylight.
Considered one of the best psychological horror games, the first Outlast game really shows the developer's dedication, leaving the accuracy to games like Silent Hill, although the new game does allow players to play against each other. That doesn't necessarily mean it won't be a completely terrifying experience.
