The Last of Us would have a prequel developed by another team

The gaming community knows that The Last of Us series currently has two parts, each with a time difference of 5 years. But it seems that Sony was thinking about developing a prequel that takes place before the events of the first part, and that it would have been developed by a different team at Naughty Dog.

Speaking during a recent press conference ahead of the season one finale of The Last of Us, citing the comic book. a statement Neil Druckmannco-president of Naughty Dog Studios, said the premise revolved around Ellie's mother, "Anna", which at one point was written as a short story.

Initially, Druckmann had the idea of making the story feature Anna as a short animated video. When that didn't work out, another game studio was approached to turn the story into a game. For some reason, Druckmann said, that deal never came to fruition, which led to Anna's story being told in episode 9 of the series instead of developing a game telling her story.

The gaming community is now more interested in knowing what happened between the two parts of the game than anything else. Since the gap between the two parts is large and is 5 years, here is what Druckmann had to say:

we were We're in talks with another game company to do this as another game. But that deal didn't work out to tell this story.

It seems that Sony didn't like paying a huge budget to develop a prequel to the first part that only talks about Ellie's mother. But the idea of including this in the current series instead of developing a game seemed like a good idea. Not forgetting that the allusion to Anna was in one of Naughty Dog's games in the form of a promotional poster with the name American Daughters.

Druckmann also said that if this game had become a reality, it would have revealed more details about Ellie's biological father. Something that was never addressed in the game and TV show.

Finally, the director hinted that this project could come to fruition one day, perhaps in The Last of Us. Would you like to see this project in game form?
