Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will only launch on current-generation devices, with the exception of next-gen devices. This wasn't previously clarified by developer Respawn Entertainment until this point, where we finally get their justification.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor director Stig Asmussen revealed in a conversation with PLAY magazine why there's no PS4 or Xbox One version. Asmussen explained that it all comes down to the fact that developer Respawn Entertainment is looking to leverage current hardware capabilities to their full potential. This has resulted in what the director called "a truly new gem of a Star Wars experience."
The game truly feels like a next-gen game, and that's what everyone noticed during the latest review video, as the stark difference appeared in most aspects of the previous last-gen version. The director continued:
In short, we quickly learned that we can leverage faster processors, more memory, better load times, and so on, to create much larger maps with more detail, greater density, greater enemy/NPC variety, and overall fidelity. This new generation has allowed us to do just that, and I think that translates into a truly next-gen experience in the Star Wars universe.
The team announced a few days ago that the game's release date has been delayed by about a month. Its new release date is April 28th, instead of March 16th, which was the previous date. It also mentioned that the game will have features not present in the previous installment. For example, the player will be able to ride creatures and use them to move around, there will also be fast travel, and much more.
