CD Projekt RED has announced that its card game, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, will reach end-of-life in 2024. While the company still has content planned for the game, according to IGN, the studio is moving most of the title's developers to other projects.
CD Projekt RED has revealed its content plans for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game throughout 2023, which will include three expansions set for April, July, and September that will bring 72 new cards to the game.
The studio also stated that despite the developers being removed from the game, the card game will still have additional content released in the future. The game will feature a seasonal progression system and a new feature that allows players to vote on any improvements that help balance the game.
The latest major Gwent release, titled Gwent: Rogue Mage, was revealed earlier this year for PC, Android, and iPhone. Gwent: Rogue Mage features more PvE elements.
Speaking of other projects, Sebastian Kalemba has announced that he will direct the “new Witcher saga” The Witcher 4, indicating that he is involved in the entire trilogy that CD Projekt Red has confirmed. In other words, Kalemba will work on both the fifth and sixth parts. In addition, we have The Witcher Remake, which we will see after the release of the fourth part, which means that we are far from the release at the moment.
