Spencer: Xbox is strong even if Activision Blizzard deal is broken

The Xbox chief has said that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard is not a lifeline for Xbox and that Microsoft's powerful gaming arm will continue even if the deal is blocked by censors.
While in the UK he spoke Phil Spencer The Competition and Markets Authority is present to defend the acquisition agreement, making it clear that it will not harm competition in the global video game market.
Britain's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is in the midst of an in-depth investigation into the acquisition, which also faces challenges from the European Commission and the US Federal Trade Commission, which recently joined the opposition to the deal's completion.
While the deal is Microsoft's biggest acquisition ever, the company is making far more money from non-gaming products like its universal Windows operating system, Office apps and its cloud services.
Asked by The Times what would happen to Xbox if such an acquisition was stopped by regulators, Spencer replied that the games industry did not depend on it to be completed. He added:
This is an important acquisition for us. But it’s not a long-term staple – the Xbox brand will still be there and strong even if this deal doesn’t go through.
The main concern of the organizers and observers is that the conclusion of this agreement will weaken Sony's position, due to the loss of audience on the PlayStation platform for access to the game Call of Duty. On the other hand, Microsoft sees the bias of the regulators towards Sony, which they describe as controlling more than 70% of the video game market worldwide.
Through thick and thin, it seems that this ill-fated acquisition won't be completed any time soon, with the chance of it being scrapped by Sony increasing as time goes on.
