It seems that the success of the PS5 platform has created great confidence for Sony in terms of expected sales. Sony President Hiroki Totoki is confident that the PlayStation 5 platform will sell more than 60 million copies and expects sales to continue in the coming years in a constant and very stable manner.

The PS5 platform has reached 32 million copies sold, and this was despite a start that was plagued by supply and supply problems in recent years, as well as the Corona crisis. Sony's management expects this number to at least double in the coming years as the company increases production regularly.

So far, it's difficult to definitively judge the extent of the PlayStation 5 platform's success and its overtaking of the PS4 platform, despite the strong numbers and surrounding circumstances, as the latter sold approximately 37.9 million units in the same period. But if the PS5 continues on the same path it's currently on, it shouldn't be hard to break the PS4's sales.

Hiroki Totoki has confirmed that PS4 users will eventually migrate to the PS5 and that Sony has managed to make significant gains with current-gen users.

Sony isn't just focused on making its own games a high-quality experience for PlayStation owners, it also wants to make its hardware the best place to play when it comes to third-party offerings. According to Sean Benson, the company's head of acquisitions, the field is wide open for them to do anything, and the company still has a lot up its sleeve that we're waiting for.
