A month separates us from the end of 2022, and the beginning of the new year 2023, and it seems that Sony will not hold any event or conference of its own before the end of this year.

Perhaps rumors have been swirling that Sony would have a major event since early 2022, and the rumors have been floating around from month to month until the end of the year has come and gone without any significant conferences. We're talking about the major PlayStation conferences here, not the participation that occurs through other third-party events like Gamescom, The Game Ward, or even the State of Play event.

Sony has two major conferences that it holds, or at least holds one of them every year, and they are the Playstation Showcase or Playstation Experience event, but these events have completely disappeared during this year, which is about to end.

During 2022, Sony has been content to hold several State of Play episodes, in which it showcases its already known titles that it is preparing to launch as a form of marketing. For example, we were in a meeting with an episode about the game Gran Turismo 7, and then an episode about God of War Ragnarok, and so on.

Where are the PlayStation studios?

We know that all PlayStation studios are currently working on a number of unannounced projects over the past few years, and we have noticed that most of them have been recruiting additional developers to join their teams through job postings to work on these mysterious projects.

Last year, we learned that Insomniac Studios is working on Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the second installment in the Spider-Man series that has been a huge hit on PlayStation platforms. Also, don't forget about Marvel's Wolverine game project, which has been stalled since its release with a short cinematic.

Meanwhile, Naughty Dog is working on an online game project based on the world of The Last of Us, as the game is considered one of the great titles according to the developer's description and is no less powerful in development budget than its previous games. while busy Neil Druckmann He and his team are working on a new game project that he has hinted at heavily but not given any details about, and believes it to be a fantasy-style adventure RPG, according to a hint that was discovered in The Last of Us Part 1.

In addition, Bend Studio, which failed in Days Gone 2, we learned that it is working on an online multiplayer game project that takes place in the world of the aforementioned game. Add to this the new independent studio Haven, which is working in cooperation with Sony on a big title dedicated to the PlayStation 5.

Of course, we haven't forgotten about the new studio Firesprite, which is also working on several projects for PlayStation, including a new part of the upcoming Twisted Metal game.

And Sucker Punch Studio, which we've gotten strong indications is working on Ghost of Tsushima 2, the second part of the incredible samurai game.

There's also the Guerrilla Games studio, as well as the developers of the Gran Turismo 7 car game, who are quietly working on their own projects.

Finally, Santa Monica Studio, which recently gifted us with the game God of War Ragnarok, where veteran director Cory Barlog assured us that he is working on a new separate project about which he did not reveal details.

All of these studios and the projects they are working on are still being kept under wraps. However, with the release of God of War Ragnarok, it’s safe to say that PlayStation’s extensive library of games is now empty of expected announced titles. It’s time to replenish this library with new titles with specific release dates that could boost public excitement and significantly boost PlayStation 5 sales.

But what is the secret behind Sony's silence?

There are two obstacles that we have managed to put in place, and we believe that they are the real reason for Sony's silence during the year 2022. Especially in the second half of it, which usually plays host to many big events, including PlayStation events.

The first reason is PlayStation 5 salesSony knows that the demand for its new device is high worldwide, but it is unable to meet this huge demand due to obstacles in the production and manufacturing process due to lack of resources. While the world is still recovering from this crisis, which has greatly and negatively affected the manufacturing of home gaming devices.

This has led the company to pull back a bit on issuing some of its big titles, while relying on some developers to produce some common titles between the new generation and the previous generation in order to benefit from the large fan base and get enough sales.

But in the next phase, and with the old PlayStation 4 beginning to be phased out of the equation, Sony will need to develop and expand the PlayStation 5 audience in order to achieve convincing sales of the new titles that are coming, which we believe will be dedicated only to the next generation. This means that Sony has to focus at this stage on improving the production plan of the device and expanding its reach by overcoming the obstacles that are in its way.

With that, we hope that Sony will let PlayStation studios quietly work on their big projects without putting pressure on them, while focusing on the plan to produce and distribute the PlayStation 5 in the necessary and sufficient quantities to serve global markets.

Meanwhile, Sony is developing a plan to pump more than 33 million units during the new fiscal year, a huge number that will greatly increase sales of the device and is enough to launch new exclusives dedicated to it that can achieve convincing sales at that time.

The second reason is the deal with Xbox ActivisionSeveral months ago, Sony launched a widespread incitement campaign against Microsoft's completion of its acquisition of the game developer Call of Duty. The conclusion of this deal would result in the loss of the game's release on PlayStation devices, which Sony believes would cause major disruption to the market for competitors.

Sony is putting much of its management energy into either thwarting the deal or getting strong assurances that Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation platforms for as long as possible. Of course, this battle won't be over anytime soon, as Microsoft, on the other hand, is still putting all its energies into getting the deal done.

Between Sony's concerns about improving the production of PlayStation 5 devices and messing up its deal with Microsoft, it seems the company is putting aside the idea of revealing its next projects at this point. But the question many may ask is: how long will this silence last?

That's what we'll leave for the followers to answer.
