A source has revealed that Sony is preparing to launch the PS5 Slim, the slim version of the original version, next year in 2023.
This information came through the media and leaker Tom Henderson, citing the leak, which revealed some specifications and the launch date, which will be in the third quarter of next year.
According to the source, who confirmed that he had obtained this information through informed sources, who refused to disclose it, Sony has been working during the last period to reduce the size and weight of the PlayStation 5, and has managed to do so through recent models. But the new version that this new source spoke of indicates a significant reduction in the internal structure of the device, which will make Sony present a completely new external design as well.
Furthermore, in addition to changing the exterior design, the source indicated that Sony is working to reduce the size of the internal components, as well as increase their efficiency and reduce power consumption, which will be reflected in improving the system's temperature and making it more stable.
The source also indicated that Sony will rely on Die-shrink technology to shrink all components of the system to fit the small size the company wants to achieve while keeping the system efficiency stable.
What is Die-shrink technology?
This technique involves shrinking the die to create a more or less identical circuit using a more advanced manufacturing process. This reduces overall costs for the chip company, as the lack of major changes to the processor architecture reduces R&D costs and at the same time allows more processor dies to be manufactured on the same piece of silicon chip, resulting in a lower cost.
A leak from “theleak(dot)co” has suggested that a PS5 Slim will launch in Q3 2023.
I'm pretty sure this is the PlayStation 5 I reported on earlier, as its production and release times line up perfectly with the production and sales numbers I have. https://t.co/2rzlDrjYAb

It is reported that Die-shrink technology was used by third-party companies to make a conceptual version of the PS5 Slim, and although it managed to significantly reduce the size of the device, the problem appeared in the power system, which needed a water cooling system to maintain heat. Which made the idea of deployment complex and unusable for public use.
The same source also indicated that Sony will make the new PS5 Slim version without a base, as is the case with the current PlayStation 5, and this could be an indication that the device could be flat without dents, as is the case with the current version.
According to the source, although he was not able to see any images of the new device, the production process will begin in the second quarter of next year, while it will be launched in global markets in the third quarter (between April and June) of next 2023.
We don't know if these leaks are about the same device that some sources talked about earlier this year, which indicated that it will not include a disk drive, as it will be released separately with less weight and lower production cost, but it seems that the source is talking about a good thing. Completely different in shape and size.
