Some theories have begun to emerge as to why Sony didn't release Bloodborne on PC. The company released many of its previous exclusives for the aforementioned game on PC, but excluded From Software's beloved title.
According to a source, the highly requested PC version of Bloodborne was canceled following the release of the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn, which underperformed. According to a rumor from a Spanish YouTuber, the developer originally responsible for the PC version of Horizon was Virtuos. This is the same developer also involved in the recent Metal Gear Solid 3 remake.
Podcast host BaityBait, who has over 16,000 Twitter followers, explains what he's heard about the PC version of Bloodborne. Here's what he says, as translated by PlayStation LifeStyle:
"I heard from an unknown source that Virtuos, the studio behind the PC version of Horizon, made a huge mistake. And Sony had to bring in Guerrilla to fix the failed game. Meanwhile, the company canceled the PC version of Bloodborne, which was made by the same studio.
Sony hired Virtuos Studio to develop PC versions because they had platform expertise, unlike Guerrilla Studio, which lacked it. While Horizon received positive reviews on Steam, it received negative reviews from players due to its poor technical performance and numerous technical issues.
Who is to blame here, I wonder, Sony and the testing studio that is not suited to perform an important task, or the studio that made a mistake?
