Last night, Konami revealed several powerful projects that will bring the SILENT HILL series to its fans for many years to come after an absence of many years.

The Silent Hill series will return to us in the next period with 5 distinct works, between a reissue, a new part, an interactive game and a final television work as follows:

The return of the SILENT HILL series

• SILENT HILL 2 Developed by Bloober Team in partnership with Akira Yamaoka and Masahiro Ito (PlayStation 5 and Steam platforms).
• SILENT HILL: Townfall Co-produced by Annapurna Interactive and No Code (platforms to be announced later).
• SILENT HILL f An all-new story set in 1960s Japan (platforms to be announced later).
• SILENT HILL: Ascension An interactive online series through which viewers shape the story of SILENT HILL. Streaming 24/7, coming in 2023.
• Back to SILENT HILL Film project directed by Christoph Gans.

1- SILENT HILL 2

Do you see that city? In your troubled dreams? Konami announced last night the remake of the second part of the psychological horror game that was first released in 2001 and will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PC via the Steam platform.

The unsettling city shrouded in thick fog will be recreated with enhanced visuals, sounds and gameplay by developer Bloober Team, composer Akira Yamaoka and artist Masahiro Ito.

Producer Motoi Okamoto commented on the announcement, saying:

SILENT HILL returns as a top-notch game. We are proud to announce the release of the second part for PlayStation and Steam, it is the best version of the series, we are looking forward to this new high-quality version that has been revived by a group of horror game experts.

As for composer Akira Yamaoka, he commented:

SILENT HILL is an inspiration to me. I am very grateful to be involved in working on a much-loved game. A new story is about to be discovered again. Please look forward to the moment when you can immerse yourself in this world again.

Additionally, official and graphic artist Masahiro Ito said:

Pyramid Head is back. A new journey for those who know the origin and main story for those who know this character. And the…. A memorable journey about the man most closely associated with this monster.

Comment from Peter Papineau, CEO of Bloober Team who is working on the remake of the game:

The game that shaped our collective vision for Bloober Team was SILENT HILL 2. It’s the game that got us started on the title. Now we face the ultimate test, a challenge to translate our childhood memories of the final game into a language that modern gamers can understand while creating an authentic experience as well.

Papineau added that the team of brilliant minds at Konami reimagined one of the most memorable games in the history of electronic entertainment more than 20 years ago. Konami and Bloober will collaborate to ensure that SILENT HILL 2 shines again, setting new standards for the genre and delivering an unforgettable experience for the next generation of fans.

“We are determined to showcase Bloober Team’s growth as high as possible and aim for the pinnacle of game development,” he added. “We can’t wait for players to see our work.”

Remick Part Two revisits the main protagonist, James Sunderland, and his search for clues in the eponymous town after receiving a mysterious message from his long-dead wife, Mary.

The game description said:Experience James' terrifying monsters and other settings and fantasies that have been reimagined over 20 years using the latest gaming technology on modern 4K entertainment systems..

Additionally, during last night's event, four new projects were currently in development, as follows:

2- SILENT HILL: Townfall

Co-produced by well-known publisher Annapurna Interactive, who brought us popular titles such as Stray, Outer Wilds and Neon White, in collaboration with independent developer No Code, who won multiple BAFTA awards for their games Stories Untold and Observation.

This new partnership between developers, publishers and creators from around the world will embody the process of creating a new perspective for the groundbreaking SILENT HILL series. More details about Townfall will be revealed in the future.

3- SILENT HILL f

The next title on the list of titles to be revealed is SILENT HILL f, an all-new story set in 1960s Japan that features a beautiful and terrifying world. Written by Ryūkishi07, best known for his Japanese comics featuring murder, psychological horror, and the supernatural.

4- SILENT HILL: Ascension

Next up, the Ascension game was revealed, which will launch players from around the world into the heart of SILENT Hill in a groundbreaking way, putting all of the characters and story from the new series into the hands of fans while also delivering the story directly across multiple platforms. Ascension is a joint effort by Genvid Entertainment, Bad Robot Games, Behavior Interactive, and dj2 Entertainment.

5- Return to SILENT HILL

Horror film director Christoph Gans, known for his films such as Beauty and the Beast (2014) and the original Silent Hill (2006), will be responsible for the new film, “Return to SILENT Hill”. More information about these projects will be released at a later date.
