What are the problems you face in the Saudi PlayStation Store? Society speaks

PlayStation Saudi Arabia aims to make the PlayStation digital store the first choice for local users by providing services and overcoming obstacles that may prevent users from easily obtaining various services.

Despite this, there are still many features and functions that are usually available from the moment they are first released in other global digital stores, but applying them to the local store takes a lot of time and sometimes does not apply.

The Saudi PlayStation Store still lags behind the platform's other digital stores in other countries, despite the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia seeing a significant expansion in player numbers, while the world awaits it as the true launchpad for the core Arab gaming community. Therefore, it's time to focus more attention and provide more features and functionality that are often available in other stores.

When sharing with a colleague Ahmed Brown On Twitter, he asked gamers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to share the most important issues they may encounter when using the Saudi PlayStation Store, and the most important of these were the following.

The most important problems faced by Saudi PlayStation Store users

  • Removal of some titles without justification or without a blocking decision from the Audiovisual Commission.
  • The delay in bringing some new services, such as cloud streaming.
  • Not bringing some services and reward systems like stars.
  • High game prices compared to other digital stores.
  • Slow response from local support team.

These are the most prominent issues that have been shared by the gaming community so far, and it seems that most of them really deserve PlayStation Saudi Arabia to intervene to fix them or justify the reasons for their unavailability in the region.

The cloud streaming and remote gaming service was recently promoted by Sony, and despite announcing its arrival in several regions, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was not mentioned in the list of supported regions.

Additionally, the Stars competition and rewards system allows players to participate in challenges that earn them points that can be exchanged for game purchases or additional content from the PlayStation Store. Unfortunately, since its launch earlier this year, we've been waiting for a local version to be announced, but it seems that's never going to happen.

Regarding pricing, we expect a special agreement with Saudi players, who have become a key focus in building the local community by bringing them into line with the international pricing of games available on other digital stores. Saudi PlayStation could work with the relevant local authorities to reduce the tax rate, for example, or make concessions at the local level to make the store attractive to local users rather than seeking out external digital stores.

We hope there will be a real response from PlayStation Saudi Arabia on this matter, to establish new, clear and explicit standards.
