Today, French company eboysoft issued an official statement confirming that the game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is still in development and has not been canceled.
The company indicated in a post on its official blog that the refund process for all those who pre-ordered the game was done because the game does not have a specific release date. Although this is not an indication that the project has been completely canceled.
The post also indicated that more details about Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will be shared in the future, but no timeframe was set for this and whether this new information will be shared with the community this year or next.
The publication also confirmed that there are currently no plans to work on remake sequels of other classic series such as Warrior Within and The Two Thrones.
Aside from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, there are currently no plans to remake any part of the Other Prince of Persia series.
It is reported that it has been more than two years since this remake was first revealed, which was only confirmed for last-gen platforms, where, after the poor review of the game, it was delayed more than once, but the measure taken by Ubisoft to return pre-order money to players has made many believe that the project has been terminated.
The enhanced version of the first part of the game was announced by an Indian team developing and as soon as it appeared in a trailer, it was subjected to a lot of criticism due to poor graphics and character designs as it was famous among critics as the enhanced game that needs improvement.
As a result, the series has faced several delays to work better as described by the company previously, and the Covid-19 epidemic has caused it to be postponed again indefinitely, without specifying any time for its release in the future, because the development team wants to have enough time to develop the game, make it better, feel fresh and maintain the feel of the original part of the game.
The game project has now been transferred to the Ubisoft Montreal studio following the failures that occurred during the first detection period, as it was stated in the company's statements following this decision that the new team will work to provide the best possible experience through the remake.
