Kojima revealed the game via a live-action video on the PlayStation 5, as the game is published by Sony and will be exclusive to its current platform. However, the game's first reveal video did not provide a release date or even the year in which the game will be released.

Perhaps the aspirations were for the game to be released in the next year 2023, but according to the latest leaks, it seems that the game will not see the light before 2024.

frank freedomone of the standout designers at PlayStation Visual Arts studio, and through his own account on the ArtStation platform, it seemed that the game's release date would be sometime in 2024. We don't know how any developer or designer outside of the Kojima Productions structure is aware of the Death Stranding 2 release date, but don't forget that Kojima receives full support from Sony and PlayStation Studios, so there may be internal promotion of the proposed release date.

Meanwhile, after the game's official reveal, Kojima and his team will begin to ramp up the promotion of the game, with the first step being to make the first part, Death Stranding, available for free download via the Epic Store for 24 hours. It seems that Kojima wants to expand the circle of players who can learn about the game and get excited about the next part.
