A Metal Gear Solid voice actor has objected to his voice being used again in the upcoming remake without his permission, describing it as a "slap in the face" to him.
He explained the voice actor behind the Colonel's character Campbell In the Metal Gear Solid series, using his voice again in parts of the series without permission is a "real slap in the face" and that also includes the use of artificial intelligence.
I woke up Paul Riding Who appeared as the leader responsible for guiding the hero Snake in MGS and other games like Fallout and Persona 5, when accessing Twitter and writing through his account:
“Please read, if you do not have written permission to use my voice, you do not have permission to use my voice, including the use of artificial intelligence. Doing so is a violation of my legal rights and a real slap in the face.”
Paul Riding isn't the only one who has expressed his complete dissatisfaction with the use of artificial intelligence techniques to voice his character from previous installments. He was preceded by the voice actor of the character "Snake" David Hayter, who shared his opinion on the matter with Eurogamer:
“Anyone who steals your vote should be locked up forever. If you think you’re going to get thousands of subtle emotional tweaks, you’re kidding yourself. Yes, legally we should all be protected from these idiots trying to repurpose our voices, photos or writings for free.”
Konami is currently working on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which is a complete remake of the third part of the original game, and will be released next year in 2024.
