Telltale Games has announced that The Wolf Among Us 2 has been delayed until next year. The game was announced in February last year, and its gameplay and characters have been overhauled, and a set of artistic photos of it have been released.

Telltale Games announced via its Twitter account some time ago that it will have to postpone the release of The Wolf Among Us 2 to next year 2024, after it was supposed to be released later this year. The team says this is one of the most difficult decisions they have made recently.

It is mentioned that work on the game began in 2020, or as the development team mentioned in their statement that they released moments ago. Where they mentioned:

We started working on the game in 2020 and we still intend to tell the story of Bigby and the rest of the Fabletowm group. However, we will need more time to develop the game. Hearing this news is as disappointing for us as it is for you.”

We will continue to work on the sequel that fans of the title need and deserve, and we will do the right thing for the game while protecting the health of our developers.”

The game's story is a continuation of the events of the first part, released in 2014. It was scheduled to be released on current and previous generation devices and PC, and perhaps postponing it to next year could prevent its release on the last generation.

Following the surprise announcement, IGN interviewed Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie, who said the studio switched from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal 5 to develop the game. This required redoing "a lot of work."

Commenting on the delay, Ottilie said that Telltale would have to ship an incomplete product or face disaster. He continued:

If we put this game out of the picture and it's not ready, we'll destroy it.” Expectations are very high, we take the time to meet them and we want to be proud of them and we know that.

“We’ve done the previous crises and we don’t want to do it again, and it’s not fair to ask that. You can’t plan a business around that. So yes, part of it is maintaining a healthy work culture. We don’t want to burn out our good people.”.”

Did you feel the team was right to finish the game and keep its developers healthy rather than pushing them, or were there other reasons that led to this?
