The announcement has passed Official Twitter account for the game Minutes before the time of writing this report, and it seems to have come quietly and without any insinuations, statements or even prior suspense. The following announcement stated:

The next expansion for ELDENRING, Shadow of the Erdtree, is currently in development.
We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between.
