Xbox takes a hard hit to its fans at The Game Awards.

The Game Award 2022 video game awards ceremony ended a few days ago and, despite the presence of the president of Xbox at the event, he raised hopes that we would finally see some of the many games that should have been in development for several years at Xbox Studios and its partners. But simply, nothing happened!!

It’s a 3D blow to the sound of how far Xbox is aiming for its fans around the world. Not only are we closing out 2022 without getting any major first-party AAA titles, we’ve also gotten zero announcements or reviews for the dozens of projects reportedly in development at Xbox Studios.

I don't know how Microsoft's plan to manage the Xbox studios, all of which have been working on large and varied projects for several years, is going. But is the company really not ready to show any of these projects during the latest The Game Awards event? Hellblade 2, which has been in development for several years, is still not ready? The Fable 2 game project that was revealed a few years ago is still not ready? The Vowed game, which was revealed over 3 years ago, is still not ready for a new look, even with a cinematic showing? The new Forza game is still not ready? Where is Everwild, State of Decay 3, Contraband, Indiana Jones, The Outer Worlds 2, Elder Scrolls VI, ... and ... and ...

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2

I don't know how Microsoft intends to face the fierce competition that puts it in direct confrontation with the giant Sony, and how it intends to satisfy its fans who have placed their trust in the Xbox brand, since not a few have recently started moving to its platforms because of the (let's say misleading) promotion that the company follows to attract users to its services and platforms?!

Microsoft has admitted that 2022 saw the disappearance of major AAA titles from its studios, but has promised to make 2023 a big year for its fans. Despite this, Phil Spencer is still sitting on his hands without revealing anything to come that could lift the spirits of this audience, who have begun to question Xbox's ability to endure and continue.

In this year that is coming to an end, we have seen PlayStation launch many great titles that have been released on its platforms. All of them were illustrious titles and competed well for many awards during the last ceremony. On the other hand, we have seen a very dry year for Xbox, which has been content to spread promises and focus on acquisitions that, so far, have not yielded anything.

What's confusing here is that Xbox Studios has been working on a lot of projects that we've been looking forward to for the past few years. But we haven't seen any of them yet! Where's Hellblade 2, which was revealed 3 years ago and maybe more, and shouldn't be ready for release by now? Also, the game Vowed, which raised the hopes of many Xbox fans that we'll finally get a fantasy RPG-style game, like the PlayStation games Demon's Soul and Bloodborne. But since that teaser, we haven't seen any results from it.

Will Microsoft's acquisition of these major studios have a negative impact on their performance? Will it be the graveyard of studios in the end?

Will Phil Spencer write the Xbox ending?

Perhaps the most prominent figure in the past nine years of the Xbox Hall of Fame brand Phil Spencer Which has played an important role in increasing its competitiveness. And it has had an effective role in perfecting the launch plan of the Xbox platforms through its various devices in these years, the latest of which is the Xbox Series S, a smart move that paid off by reducing the sales gap with its competitor. In addition, we do not deny its role in providing the Xbox Game Pass service, which has become the talk of everyone, in addition to the cloud service that is constantly spreading to what is outside of the Xbox platforms.

However, despite all this, Spencer has not yet managed to prepare the spirit of these various platforms and services, which are “games” that can complete the success he has started. Perhaps his failure in this regard will put an end to this success, which is about to turn into a “flagrant failure”.

Spencer's presence at The Game Awards event was a strong slap in the face, not only because he didn't bring anything from his projects that had been in development for several years, but also because Sony, which doesn't care about third-party events, reviewed several exclusive titles coming to the PlayStation 5 platform and with revealing release dates, such as FF16 and Forspoken, and announced the new big exclusive from veteran Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding 2.

All of these titles, along with other titles such as Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, Naughty Dog's online game project based on the world of The Last of Us, and other projects that we hope to reveal in the coming years.

Not only that, but Spencer was witness to the many awards won by PlayStation Exclusives at the event. Most notably, God of War Ragnarok, which was also among the contenders for the GOTY Game of the Year title.

With this, it seems that Xbox wants to start the year 2023 by instilling a spirit of frustration and anxiety in the hearts of Xbox fans, who feel disappointed and have missed the biggest and last event of 2022.

Microsoft may be preparing to hold its own event next year, but that doesn't justify taking its audience away from a dry year and going into a new year without hope, despite the presence of many great titles that it has been hiding for many years.
