A former writer who worked on the Silent Hill series has described the Silent Hill 2 remake as poison in a chalice. Sam Barlow He previously worked on several installments in the series, most notably Silent Hill Origins, released for the PS2, and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, released for the Wii and PS2.
The expression “poisoned chalice” is often used in the fields of sports and politics to refer to a specific job or task that a person is given. At first, the person believes that he has been honored. But he soon realizes that the task entrusted to him is actually a heavy burden and one that could ruin his reputation.
barlow He said during an exclusive interview with PCGamesN that he's not excited about trying out the Silent Hill 2 remake that Bloober Team is working on, where he said:
Personally I'm less than excited to play the game, also it's like the biggest "poisoned chalice" in video games, that I'm re-releasing Silent Hill 2.. I mean good luck to them because I don't know how to do that without upsetting the fans of the series.
in contrast barlow He doesn't usually get excited about remasters and remakes. On the other hand, he was more excited about the Silent Hill titles that have been revealed, which are set in the world of the series. He added that the idea of using the game's world to present different new stories would be a more exciting idea, rather than working on a remake of something that has proven its quality for several years.
The version of Silent Hill that I love and that they started working on is that we're using it as a platform to have a bunch of interesting psychological horror games. The writer also adds that Silent Hill 2 is a very popular title. The game also has a large and loyal audience, and they may not be happy to see the changes that Bloober Team will introduce in the upcoming remake.
In the same context, the team at studio Bloober Team stated that the survival horror game Silent Hill 2 is technically ready, at least. The developer added that this does not mean that the release will happen soon, and that it is up to its partners, referring to both Konami and Sony.
