Battlefield 2042 is now available for free to all Plus subscribers. This issue has clearly contributed to a significant increase in the number of players in it, after a large number of players had abandoned it for a long time.

Battlefield 2042 suffered from a number of issues at launch, most of which were technical issues at the core of the game, which contributed to players turning away from it. After a series of fixes and challenges from its developers at DICE Studio and EA, the number of players playing it is gradually increasing, especially with its support for different seasons, in addition to making it available for free to Plus subscribers of all tiers this month.

As noted by data site TrueTrophies, Battlefield 2042 saw a 578% jump in player numbers following its launch on the service. It currently has more players than other major games like GTA V, Rocket League, Overwatch 2, Apex Legends, and Destiny 2.

We took a quick look at another data site PSNProfiles. This site provided a list of popular games based on player activity, as it revealed that the game is the fourth most popular game on the site after Hogwarts Legacy, Minecraft Dungeons, and Horizon Forbidden West.

Note that this note is based on limited data only, as not all players opt to have their data tracked. It's a good sign though.

As a reminder, the Essential Plus tier allows players to keep the games they download. Other, higher tiers only allow this for a limited time for certain titles. Are you playing Battlefield 2042 right now?
