Activision has announced that the online version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be available for free starting today, Thursday. Players around the world and on all platforms available for the game will be able to download and play until next Monday, December 19.

During this period, players will be able to download the game’s online content through the store dedicated to their preferred platform, start the gameplay experience, progress through the character and weapon levels, and unlock various equipment. And if they decide to purchase the full game, their progress and achievements can be fully transferred to the full version of the game.

The online test version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will feature specific content for the test, as Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination and Kill Confirmed will be available for testing, in addition to the possibility of playing in the first or third perspective mode.

As for the maps that will be available to play during the test period, they will be Farm 18 and El Asilo, in addition to the Shipment map, which will be available later this week as part of the second season content.

This announcement comes after leaks emerged that spoke about Activision's intention to provide a free copy of the game to everyone, according to insider-gaming, the mid-season one update will be available on December 14, while the free offer for the game will begin on December 15 and continue until December 19.
