We shared with you previously from xbox head Phil Spencer He thrilled us by placing a strange device behind his desk, where he was deliberately alluding to the new Microsoft Keystone device for cloud streaming services for games.
Microsoft announced last year that it planned to release a cloud game streaming device. Many expected it to be a joystick-like device that plugs directly into an HDMI port. But it ended up being a white box that looks like a home console, connected to monitors and codenamed Keystone.
Hosted by Xbox Studios Manager Phil Spencer via the Decoder podcast to talk about the latest information on the device. Spencer had this to say, summarized in bullet points:
Xbox boss comments on Keystone device
- The device was tested by some employees.
- The production cost of the console is high, so it will be comparable to the price of the Xbox Series S.
- The device will run on the same engine as the current Xbox, provide the same user interface, and support direct cloud play with Samsung devices.
- The device will include access to media apps like Netflix and others.
- Phil believes the device's launch price could range between $$99 and $$129.
The Xbox Series S has been the wonder of this generation, and it looks like the upcoming cloud streaming device will follow suit. Unfortunately, there's no specific release date yet, but stay tuned if you find anything new.
