Redfall developer is looking into offline play capability

Arkane Austin has said it is working on a fix for Redfall's mandatory internet connection, an aspect that was met with backlash when it was first announced by players at large.

In an interview with Eurogamer, the game director said Harvey Smith They're listening. And they've already started working to fix this problem in the future. But they'll have to do a few things, like encrypting save files and doing a lot of UI work to support it.

The director spoke on behalf of his team, as he went on to say that they are looking into the matter and shouldn't promise anything, but they are eager and actively working to fix this in the future, as Smith went into more detail about why Redfall was designed to require a permanent internet connection.

According to the game director's words, the issue was not primarily related to real-money purchasing systems from an in-game store, as the game does not contain a store in the first place, as additional content was planned that includes weapon and costume packs, but will be sold through the Xbox Store, and the goal was The decision is to help Arkane understand how people are playing and when they are experiencing difficulties.

Smith noted that Arkane wanted to take an emotional approach to players' concerns, as not everyone has a stable internet connection and is sometimes subject to outages. He said he believes this is why the project has been criticized.
