The DualSense Edge controller will disappoint you when it comes to battery life.

If you've been eyeing the new DualSense Edge controller coming to PlayStation 5 next month because of its battery life, look away now.
We at VGA4A haven't had a test version of the unit yet, but The Verge has been able to get our hands on it for quite some time now. While the new unit offers a lot of technology that will please and delight professional gamers, it won't change in terms of the type and size of the battery used in it.
The new DualSense Edge controller, which will cost $1,400 to purchase, will not be getting an improved battery to match the new features and functions available on it, and instead the unit will use the same battery as the main DualSense controller.
Sony, for its part, has officially stated that battery consumption will be faster, but instead the unit has been supported with a long and reinforced USB charging cable to make it easier to use the unit for long periods. The following statement was made:
The DualSense Edge wireless controller’s operating time is moderately shorter than the original DualSense wireless controller. This is because we’ve packed many more features into the same ergonomic design and form factor as the original DualSense controller. We wanted to strike a good balance between wireless uptime and delivering powerful high-performance features. Additionally, the long braided USB cable is also a great alternative for competitive gamers who prefer to play with a wired connection to avoid wireless interruptions – while also saving battery life.
As of this writing, there's no official confirmation on battery life during gaming, but with Sony's admission that it will last less than the original unit, that puts us in the ballpark of 4 hours, or maybe even less. Fortunately, the reinforced charging cable, which is 10 feet long, or roughly 3 meters, will be a good solution to avoid interruptions in charging.
The DualSense Edge controller will be compatible only with PlayStation 5 and will be available in the global and local markets, starting from the date of January 26 (1) of next year 2023, at a price of US$ 200.
