Zelink suggests in his latest interview that GTA 6 will not be released from day one on the monthly PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass services.
Take Two is still adamant about monthly PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass services, even after those services have seen good growth.
During the company’s quarterly earnings call last Wednesday, CEO Sterse Zelnick took a question from an investor about his stance on monthly services, to which he responded that such services are still small projects to invest in. Given the company’s other titles, it’s impossible to see first-class AAA games from day one. Zelnick said:
We will not be making our big headlines available on a day-to-day basis. We are happy to support the business with our other headline subscription services in due course. We feel this is the right way to support subscription services, and these monthly subscription services are still a small business for us.
Putting GTA 6 on PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass makes no sense.
Zelnick didn't say anything new about Take Two's stance on releasing its big titles from day one on its monthly services. Where the company still maintains a hard line on these services, which, according to its statements, are a very small field of investment.
Zelnick went on to say that he's not worried about monthly services like PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass starting to impact the full-price gaming market, adding that they're still holding their ground on the matter until the company sees that the space is a good fit for its aspirations.
Rockstar is still keeping the GTA 6 game under wraps, having confirmed its existence in development a year ago.
During a meeting with investors last Wednesday, Zelink confirmed that the game's development process was not affected by the recent leaks, but the impact of these leaks was severe on the souls of the development team.
Some reliable sources covering Rockstar Games news have said that there is a high possibility that the game has reached an advanced stage in the development process and has become playable.
Another source believes that Rockstar is currently in the process of polishing the game and fixing some minor technical issues. While expectations are growing for the game's reveal later this year.
