The Xbox 360, released in 2005 at a price of $1,399, is the most successful home console in Microsoft's history. It has sold over 84 million units worldwide. This device almost destroyed the history of the PlayStation, if Sony had not corrected its mistakes early.
Microsoft confirmed today that it will be removing a number of titles from the Xbox 360 Marketplace later this month, meaning that gamers will no longer be able to download approximately 46 titles, as the company wrote on its official website:
Several game titles and their associated add-ons will be removed from the Xbox 360 Marketplace in a selection of regions for each title.
The removals will begin on February 7th and after that date players will no longer be able to purchase the games, but if you originally owned these titles, you will always be able to re-download these or any other previously purchased games through the Xbox 360 Download Library as the company has reported. Please note that this removal process will not affect the Xbox One or Xbox Series digital stores.
Among the titles that will initially be removed from the UK store are Assassin's Creed, Far Cry 2, Mass Effect 2, as well as Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call Of Duty: Ghosts, as well as the sequel to Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 will also be removed from the UK Xbox 360 Marketplace. The rest of the full list of titles is as follows.
