We've heard a lot of rumors recently about work on a remake of the popular action-espionage game Metal Gear Solid.
These rumors only got stronger when Konami officially confirmed that it was responding to fan demands and announced several projects related to the Silent Hill series. But Chinese development team Virtuos Studio is still getting on the nerves of the game's fans without any official announcement.
Virtuos Studio has been linked to several reports that it is developing a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. It recently sparked controversy after more than one well-informed social media account confirmed that the developer had posted a mysterious video depicting a forest setting similar to the third installment on its official YouTube channel before deleting it. It turned out that it was built using the UE engine, not the Konami engine.
The Chinese developer continues to indirectly stir up controversy by showing that it is in contact with Konami on a secret project. And it does so by displaying the Konami logo as a partner on its official website.
According to Virtuos' official website, it is said to be among the companies contracted by Konami to develop an "unknown" project that refers to a new Metal Gear Solid game, its reference to the FOX Engine among the programs used by the developers. It is an engine previously used in the development of Metal Gear Solid V.
The Chinese development studio has been involved in a number of games in the past, including Dark Souls Remastered, NBA 2K, The Outer Wilds, and many others. Its headquarters are located in Singapore. It has offices across Asia, Europe, and North America.
However, after the announcement of the return of the Silent Hill series, it would not be surprising to see the Metal Gear series return to the scene again.
