Yesterday, Variety interviewed the development team at WB Games. We first learned that the company was very pleased with the sales of Hogwarts Legacy and thanked players for their support of the game. After that, it was hinted that there was an idea to start developing a second part, as we talked about here.
WB Games was slow to announce that the game had sold over 12 million copies worldwide in just 14 days after its release. These sales resulted in revenue of $ 850 million and the game still has a long way to go.
Hogwarts Legacy opened to incredible player engagement, surpassing 267 million hours played from February 10 to 21. Yesterday, Warner Games revealed that the game has broken company records with 280 million hours played to date.
According to the company, there has been an increase in fan engagement with the game globally, with the Wizarding World Digital website seeing 300% more traffic compared to the average monthly visitor in the first 10 days of February.
During the fourth quarter earnings conference call, the CEO spoke David Zaslav of impressive returns and noted the media giant's continued focus on Harry Potter. He also spoke about plans to make the most of these exclusive addresses.
We would like to point out that all of these achievements only apply to the current generation, as the previous generation version is scheduled to be released next April.
In an interview with the website IGNAvalanche has revealed that there are no plans for additional DLC coming to Hogwarts Legacy. Specifically, the developers stated that there are no current plans, but that doesn't mean that in the future, the game won't be supported in some way.
Interestingly, the game hinted at the existence of wizard-related Quidditch DLC. However, the development team did not acknowledge it in this interview and refused to comment on any questions about it.
