Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin's Creed Invictus is officially in development and has been created by a team that includes veteran developers who previously worked on For Honor.
Assassin's Creed Online's codename is Invictus, which is a completely standalone game and was revealed at the Ubisoft Forward series presentation in September, along with some other big projects like Assassin's Creed Red, Jade, and Hexe, which are said to be new story games.
Online play may not be the first thing Assassin's Creed fans think of when they think of the title, but it has a history with the series, being a popular game mode for players especially in Assassin's Creed Revelations and Brotherhood. Assassin's Creed gives players access to a few characters, and in different game modes, they often have to track down another player as a target while trying to escape after an assassination.
While Ubisoft essentially shut down Assassin's Creed multiplayer earlier this year, the company appears interested in reviving the idea, as outlined in a recent earnings report, as the game's presence was revealed during Infinity, Ubisoft's new platform for the series.
The development stage of the online game Assassin's Creed was not revealed in the earnings report, but since it has been officially confirmed by Ubisoft with these new details, it is unlikely that players will receive the title any time soon.
