A new year and a new update plan from long-time developer Bethesda, as announced during the ESO 2024 Global Reveal event, the arrival of new updates for the new chapter titled The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road.

The new update will launch on June 3 for PC/Mac platforms and on June 18 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles and is available for pre-purchase now. This final chapter in The Elder Scrolls Online saga continues the story that began in 2023’s Necrom and was revealed alongside the Scions of Ithelia dungeon DLC, arriving on March 11 for PC and March 26 for consoles.

The face of the forgotten prince

In the Gold Road chapter, you must investigate the return of Ithelia, a Daedric prince never before seen in the Elder Scrolls series. Throughout this new story, it’s up to you and your allies to uncover the plans of his most loyal followers, confront the opportunistic Wood Elves, and protect the people of the West Weald from the chaos of the Forgotten Prince’s return.

The main story of the Golden Road Chapter updates continues the narrative that began in last year's Necrom Chapter, but all heroes of Tamriel can enjoy this new story, regardless of whether they played the previous adventure or not.

Discover the “WEST WEALD” platform

In this final chapter, you will venture into the West Weald, a new region located southwest of Cyrodiil and along the border of Valenwood and the Gold Coast.

Longtime Elder Scrolls fans may recognize the region’s capital, Skingrad, its vineyards, and numerous Ayleid ruins from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Recently, strange Daedric attacks and a series of dramatic changes have rocked this territory of the Kolovian Empire, including the sudden appearance of a dense magical forest along the borders of Valenwood.

As a new region, the West Weald is home to a wealth of unique challenges for adventurers. This includes unique quests that delve deeper into the lore and peoples of this part of Tamriel, public wells and dungeons to explore, Mirrormoor Incursions, a new type of world event, and a new 12-player PvE experience, with all of these quests and activities coming with their own rewards, too, including… This includes new item sets, achievements, and collectibles.

Create a new power by writing in The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road

The Gold Road chapter also introduces the new Scribing system. With Scribing, you can collect and customize unique skills, called Grimoires, which give you the opportunity to further customize your character’s playstyle by allowing you to modify their primary, secondary, and tertiary effects.

For example, the Vault Grimoire creates a damaging area of effect while keeping you out of harm’s way. You can then choose to edit the Grimoire’s scripts to change the damage type, give them greater synergy with your current build, or even heal or buff your allies.

In addition to being a powerful new tool for customizing your characters, Writing is also an exploration of the ancient origins of magic in Tamriel. Through its questline, you’ll delve into the secrets of a mage who first learned to work magic, while expanding your collection of grimoires and texts.

Scions of Ithelia Dungeon DLC “Scions of Ithelia”

Also announced during the global reveal was the upcoming DLC for the 2024 ES event titled Scions of Ithelia. This new PvE DLC introduces two dungeons for Tamriel's adventuring parties, Oathsworn Pit and Bedlam Veil, and tasks you and your allies with revenge in the name of the God of Curses and defense against the mysterious control of the Demiprince of Maelstrom.

Pay attention, because although they serve as standalone adventures in their own right, all the events of these two stories lead to the next chapter of the Gold Road.

Each dungeon offers its own quests, challenges, secrets, and rewards, including new achievements, item sets, and collectibles. Available as a downloadable game bundle, Scions of Ithelia will be available in the Crown Store or with ESO Plus, arriving March 11 for PC and March 26 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
