Unless you’ve been following the world of electric cars, you might not know that Sony and Honda have teamed up to develop next-generation electric cars. The new partnership, which focuses on innovative technology, aims to put PS5 hardware inside these vehicles.
The joint collaboration between Sony and Honda aims to create vehicles that revolve around the PS5 hardware and its content, so these vehicles may be limited in number. Honda president Izumi Kawanishi said the goal of the joint venture is to build a vehicle around content, namely music, movies, and PlayStation. The idea is to leverage Sony's massive presence in entertainment, to "adapt these assets to mobility" in a move to outdo Tesla. Apparently, integrating Sony's latest gaming console into a car is "technically possible."
Izumi told the Financial Times that these recreational driving vehicles will be launched by 2025. He continued:
To make the most of your car space, you need to make it a space where you don’t have to drive. The solution to this is “self-driving”, so it will take time to get it right.
These crazy ideas have become abundant in the world of video games, of course, in the end, they are all about competition and attention. The idea of bringing home entertainment products to autonomous electric vehicles is more or less plausible. Especially for those who spend a lot of time on the road.
Either way, this is expected from Sony as it also recently filed a patent that allows PlayStation 5 devices to pause games if the player moves away from the joystick. You can learn more about this patent here.
What do you think about the idea of Sony teaming up with Honda to include their current devices in it..?
