Emulators for running games on the PC platform have always been the only option for fans and gamers of this type of game, despite the legal challenges. And now the Dolphin emulator, one of the oldest programs dedicated to this, will officially arrive on the Steam digital store.

The Dolphin emulator was first released in 2003, and since then the program has received a large number of updates and improvements for twenty years to reach a stage where it can run a considerable number of classic Nintendo, GameCube, and Wii games, with surprising improvements in its performance and quality, and the addition of many features that have become difficult to obtain their official games.

According to the emulator developer's page on the social networking platform Twitter OatmealDome, in which he wrote that the emulator will be officially released in Early Access on the Steam digital store, and continued saying:

We will launch the software in early Q2 2023, between April and June. More information will be available closer to launch.

And yes, we will support Steam Deck.

We know that the presence of this program on Steam, in turn, means that the emulator will work normally on the Steam Deck platform, and this time in plain sight. As it stands, the Steam Deck's screen size and resolution are ideal for this type of game, allowing it to run at a native screen resolution of 1280 x 800, unlike a PC. Increasing the resolution disrupts the coherence of the game's art style, which offers crystal-clear 3D graphics against blurry 2D backgrounds.

Nintendo is known for being very strict about its rights, whether for old classic games or even new ones, having filed numerous lawsuits against destination sites that were using its titles and violating its digital rights. We don't know how it will legally act regarding the Dolphin program, which it has been unable to stop for years, especially with Valve stepping in this way.
