Almost two months remain until the release date of Resident Evil 4 Remake, about which we know a lot now compared to the past. The director involved in the game's development said in a new interview that the game was about to be canceled, and he also intended not to make it.
Resident Evil 4 Remake co-director Kazunori Kadoi admitted he was initially hesitant to work on the game. The director hinted at the reason by saying it would be difficult to remake such a beloved title again, meaning he was afraid of failing at this difficult task.
Speaking to Game Informer, which had exclusive coverage of the game in this month's issue, Kadoi explained that the challenges of remaking the original game were significant. One of them was demanding fans who didn't accept any mistakes in previous remake projects. He added:
When I first heard about the RE4 remake, my first impression was that since the original was such a masterpiece, it would be difficult to remake. So I didn't want to do it.
The development challenges faced by developers are very difficult across all companies. In addition to the pressure from the gaming community, there's pressure from corporate sponsors and others.
We've reportedly received a ton of new information previously about the addition of new side quests. We'll also have new enemies and a redesign of many stages, while still maintaining the essence of the original version. You can find more details here.
The game is scheduled to be released on March 24th for PlayStation 4 and 5, PC, and Xbox Series. What are your expectations for the remake's performance when it comes out? Will it be better than the original?
