Capcom really has the best lineup of games this year, from Monster Hunter Rise on PlayStation and Xbox this month to the Resident Evil 4 remake in March. Street Fighter 6 arrives this summer and is the leap we've been waiting for from the series for years, after the previous installment saw some stumbling blocks upon its release.
In a new interview with Game Informer, director Takayuki Nakayama and producer Shuhei Matsumoto said they're looking forward to Street Fighter 6 being as successful as the second installment in the series. They don't want to make a game for veteran fans, but rather bring new players into the series and the genre at the same time.
Nakayama and Tsuchiya are also keen to avoid rushing into making the game, as was the case with Street Fighter 5. Tsuchiya defended the development team and stressed that they have big ambitions with their vision. To that end, there were no “compromises” with Street Fighter 6.
Fortunately, the game will give you the opportunity to play solo in arcade mode, which pits you against random characters from the game. Alternatively, you can challenge other players online or simply play in training mode while you wait for an opponent.
Street Fighter 6 is set to release on June 2 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The second closed beta period recently ended, but you can check out gameplay of recently revealed characters like Marisa, JP, Manon, and Dee Jay here. Are you expecting a big release from the title this time around, dear reader?
