Crafton, owner of the popular battle royale title PUBG, has announced that it has acquired The Ascent developer Neon Giant.

During the Q2 earnings call of this fiscal year, Crafton confirmed that the new studio now under its umbrella is working on an undisclosed open-world shooter project.

Neon Giant is known for its latest open-world sci-fi game, The Ascent, which has been released on Xbox and PC and will be released on PlayStation in March. The game has a rating of 74/100 with 51 different reviews on Metacritics.

Unfortunately, no details have been revealed about the Neon Giant studio project that will be published by the PUBG developer after this acquisition, the value of which has not been revealed so far.

It is worth mentioning that the Chinese company Crafton is working to expand its operations in the field of video game development after having been launched only through the PUBG game, as today it has several studios working on large projects such as the Striking Distance studio, which is working on the project of the horror and survival game The Callisto Protocol led by The Godfather for the Dead Space series.

There's also the Unknown Worlds studio that brought us Subnautica, as well as PUBG Studios, which is working on the popular Battle Royale game.

The most exciting mystery project that one of the Crafton studios is working on is The Bird That Drinks Tears, based on a Korean novel. It’s a fantasy open-world game that’s being developed using the UE5 engine, and the developer recently shared with us a cinematic video showing off some gory scenes, indicating that the game may offer a different experience that won’t be for everyone. We advise caution when watching the video, as it contains gory and other scenes that may be inappropriate.

In any case, we are waiting to see what the new project from the Neon Giant studio can be like, especially after the pleasant experience they gave us with their last game.
